Fragapalooza is but a distant memory to some, and to others it is still fresh in our minds. Regardless of where you fit in I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for helping us make this year a success. While we did have our issues, we managed to salvage as much as we could and turned it into a pretty rockin time. :)
Thanks to all the volunteers for your hard work again. Without your help we would not be able to pull it off every year. Thanks to the staff for their hard work and dedication again this year. A special thanks to Melbosa and Overlord for securing the venue for us. It was amazing!
A special thanks goes out to those participants who stepped up when we needed them most. The electrical problems were pretty bad on Thursday and you guys put in countless hours to get it resolved. Thank you!
Now for our sponsors.
- iGames, Dell and Alienware for supplying ca$h prizes for our tournaments and a kick-ass gaming laptop for one lucky winner!
- Axe Music supplied us with our PA/Sound System which was kick-ass! The lights were a nice touch for the Rock Band Tournament!
- Hat Tricks Restaurant for working out some deals on a special menu and staying open late for us
- Psyko Audio for coming out and setting up a booth as well as giving away a bunch of sweet 5.1 headphones
- Shaw for providing us with our Internet Connection again this year
- Intel for continuing to support us
- Nvidia
- Coolermaster
- Futurelooks / NZXT
- Kingston
- SteelSeries
- Patriot Memory
- Trendnet
- Westcan Wireless
I can't say enough about the sponsors again this year. You guys are awesome and your support is greatly appreciated.
I have setup a new photo album for this year, so if you have any photos to upload, please email me and I will create an album for you. We really do like to share all the photos, so please let me know if you have some.
I look forward to seeing everyone again next year, so until then, have a fraggin good time!

We are having some issues with the forum right now, it looks like you can read but not post.
We are working on it now

This might be useful if you have Steam: This here
That's the files for Trackmania Nations Forever.
I hear it's a good game, and that good things come to the people that play this good, free game. One might find out how to get good free things once they install the game and browse the local servers, via party play or whatever.
We have arranged for the StarCraft 2 finals and semi-finals to be shoutcast by the fine folks at TeamLiquid this evening.
You are welcome to join us at the projectors, or to access the cast directly at http://www.ustream.tv/channel/ragequit-tv at your leisure.
There is currently no exact ETA as to when it will start, but it will be announced over the PA as the time draws near.

Just a quick update for those of you not following the Fragapalooza Twitter account.
We are slowly starting to get the power issues resolved. We will begin powering up individual rows as we are ready for them. Please do not attempt to power up your machines until we have made the announcement, or you are told by a staff member or volunteer.
Thank you again for your patience and understanding. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to come see me at the head table.

Now that I have your attention, please check out the Hat Tricks sponsor on our sponsor page. They have come up with a great system to make satisfying your hunger easier than ever.
Hat Tricks is located up the stairs outside the venue entrance. Their hours of operation are 10am - 11pm. They are a full restaurant and lounge and a copy of their menu can be found here.
On top of that, the DQ/Orange Julius and the Hat Tricks concession will stay open until 2am for your dining pleasure. They have created a special menu just for Fragapalooza and have made ordering super easy. Download this Excel spreadsheet, fill it out and email it to the address provided. After about 15 minutes proceed up to the concession and pick up your order. However, they may not get your email right away so it might be best to simply order in person.
For those early risers, the Hat Tricks concession will also be serving breakfast from 7am - 10am. Egg Muffins, 2-egg breakfast, etc.
Check them out whenever you get hungry! How much more convenient can you get?

Hello all,
Slight delay in opening up this year, we're just making sure our power distribution is optimal for you all. Thanks for being so patient, and not flaming Skyedemon. We're anticipating a 10:00 a.m. start now.
-drown
After setting up in the venue we've managed to find room for some more seats, so our initial seating estimations are actually slightly lower than expected, so feel free to drop in! See you all tomorrow.

Registration, Registration Forms and Pre-Registration Update
Hey guys,
The registration form you've been waiting for is HERE. It is not required that you fill it out in advance, but if you want to save some time at registration, please do so. It is required that if you are under 18 you have a parent or guardian sign the form, and if that person cannot attend you will likely have to print the form off and have it signed in advance.
Please make an additional note that you are required to have PHOTO IDENTIFICATION in order to gain access to the venue after lockdown each night. Just about any currently valid Photo ID is acceptable.
After some consideration we will be doing a two hour pre-registration this year, on Wednesday August 4th from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. This is not required but allow you quick access to the venue on thursday at 9:00 a.m. This option is only available for pre-paid participants. If you have not paid, you must do so at the door - provided we have any space left at that time. We are getting close to selling out.
See you all next week!
Just a few updates for people as questions have come up in the forums:
- Registration - we have said right from the beginning that we are limiting registration to the FIRST 300 PAID people. This means that if you have not paid, you are not guaranteed a spot at the event. If you come expecting to be able to pay at the door, you might be seriously disappointed. In order to avoid any potential problems, please ensure you pay now!
- We will be making a waiver available on the site in the next few days. This will need to be filled out and signed (by a parent/guardian if you are under 18) prior to your entrance to the event.
- Seating - for those of you who have paid already, the seating is open. Please ensure you are logged into the site in order for the seating system to work.
- Tent City - we have secured an area behind the venue for Tent City this year. There is also a campground a few minutes away if you have anything larger than a tent. There may be some spots available in the venue if you want to drop a sleeping bag down, but don't come crying to me if the late night rockband prevents you from sleeping. :P
- Tournaments - the tournaments have been announced and rules have been posted on the tournament page.
- Windows updates / Antivirus - every year I whine and cry about this...please ensure your Windows updates and Antivirus product are current and up to date. I don't care how careful you think you are at home, INSTALL AN ANTIVIRUS PROGRAM! :)
- While we will have Internet Access at the event, please ensure you have all your game patches and driver updates. There is nothing worse than attempting to download them while 300 other people are trying to game. Also, please remember to turn off your torrents at the event.
As we get closer to the event we may post additional updates here. Be sure to check back often for any last minute details.
Thanks.
Seating is now Open!
Here is a quick FAQ about Seating
--Can I get a section reserved?
Most likely no. The sections that have been reserved are primarily for groups that have been coming for years and they volunteer their time to help run the event. Having said that, feel free to contact Commo or Sphincter if you feel your group deserves special attention.
--What is the deal with the round tables?
These spots are reserved for now, we are looking at the option of giving participants a bit more space, perhaps for a small fee.
--I have seating issues, what do I do?
Well, you can contact an admin and ask for help. Or if you need some participant to move over a spot, just try asking.
Seating:
we are working on few last details and then seating will open, I would think later today, or if we hit some snags, Monday.
Tournaments:
Pembina Ball 2v2, Its really semi-official, no prizes, just for prestige. The staff will be participating, and some of them think they are pretty good, so practice up.
--Commo
So there has been requests for a poster to distribute, and so we have come up with one. Here it is:
As with every year, there isn't a Fragapalooza without a leading edge LAN capable of lightning fast transfer speeds for all your event needs. Well they have done it before, and have done it again! We are excited to announce that HP will be providing Fragaplooza 2010 with our LAN again this year.
Once again Shaw Communications has stepped up and will be providing us with our Internet Connection. This is exciting news and we look forward to blazing fast speeds again this year.
Alienware has stepped up again this year and is providing cash prizes to the tournaments.
So It will be split up even $500 for first place in Starcraft II (if its out), and $500 for first place COD4.
COD4 will be a 16 team double elimination, and Starcraft II(if its out) will be Round Robin/Double elimination.
Thanks again to Alienware for the awesome prizes.
Also very important: all these games will be played in the BYOC area as we have not secured any tournament systems this year.
--Commo
Well its a bit overdue, but we are finally announcing the tournaments this year.
By far the game that was the highest in the poll was Starcraft II almost doubling 2nd place. So we will run a 1v1 Starcraft II tournament, hopefully. Now in order to run a Starcraft II the game will have to be out, before the event (obviously), and also it will have to be stable and function in a LAN environment. If Starcraft II does not meet these standards, we will revert to a Starcraft I tournament. Also due to the game not being out our rules will be a bit limited.
We will also be running a 5v5 COD4 tournament, it was second highest in the polls.
--Commo
Fragapalooza 2010 will be held in Leduc, just 20 minutes south of Edmonton, from August 5th through 8th with the doors opening at 9 am. Check out the "About" section of the web page for location details and links to maps on how to get there as well as other info on what you need to bring. Please check the About page often to get more info on hotels and restaurants in the area, also to learn about new guide lines for the new venue.
Registration for Fragapalooza 2010 has opened already. This year we are limiting our registration to the first 300 PAID participants. The only way to guarantee your spot at the event this year is to sign-up and pre-pay. Seating reservations will again be open to those who have completed the registration process and should be live soon after registration opens. The seat reservation map will show the areas where sponsors and other booths and attractions will be so you will be able to sit in an area most comfortable to your gaming needs.
Official Tournaments will be chosen by polls again this year. We will be choosing the tournaments based on the results of the polls by May 22nd. If you want your vote to count, you need to register ASAP. More weight is given to paid votes, but we still take into account ALL poll results. Once again we encourage unofficial tournaments organized by participants and we will do our best to accommodate them in the tourney section of the web page.
We have some great fun things planned for giveaways, door prizes, the infamous Wacky tasks and fun tourneys. We will be bringing back the Rock Band 2 Tournament again this year as it was such a success last year. Check the NEWS page and Forums for details as we continue to announce the details for the event.
We are looking for volunteers to help with the event again this year. We have seen some great work from our younger volunteers so we lowered the age limit to participate. If you are 18 years of age or older and would like to be on our team please send an email to: volunteer@fragapalooza.ca All volunteers will get a volunteer t-shirt and be entered into special volunteer prize draws after the end of the event.
Lastly, payments can be made through PayPal using a credit card. You do not need to have a PayPal account to do this. We will be working on securing a location for drop-off payments and will announce when we have more details.
As a bonus for those who register and PAY early every year, we will draw for a high-end video card for the first 100 who complete registration and a draw for an Intel CPU for the first 200 completed registrants. You must have your event fees submitted to fully complete registration and answer a skill testing question correctly in order to qualify. So if you are in the first 200 you get two chances as some great prizes!
Good Luck!
Cheerz!
